A Lenten Prayer for Forgiveness
Merciful Father,
Please be merciful to me a sinner, I come before you this Lenten season to ask for forgiveness of those things I have done which were not pleasing to you, and those things I should have done that would have brought you joy.
In both, I have failed myself and you.
Renew me and bring me to a new life in you. Touch me and make me feel whole again. Help me to see your love in the passion, death, and resurrection of your son. Help me to observe Lent in a way that allows me to celebrate that love. Prepare me for these weeks of Lent as I feel both deep sorrow for my sins and your undying love for me.
Jesus our Lord, our life, our light, our love. Amen
