We all know in our hearts that everything we have is really a Gift from God. Perhaps the best way to show we are grateful comes in a prayer from the Book of Common Prayer.
“…that we may show forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives. If the poetry isn’t stunning enough, this sentiment will stop you in your tracks: not only with our lips, but in our lives. We are called to offer God praise, not simply in what we say but also with what we do. God doesn’t want lip service; God wants life service. An intimate, unbreakable connection exists between the words that we say in prayer and the things that we do in our daily lives.”
