Laundry Love Updates
Last month on May 4, 2024, we held a Thank You Appreciation Breakfast at All Saints Church for approximately 50 Laundry Love South Florida Friends, Donors, Volunteers and Supporters. It was our way of thanking and recognizing them for all that they do to make Laundry Love South Florida a success. At breakfast, we shared the following information.
Laundry Love South Florida began in October 2019 and will celebrate our fifth anniversary in October 2024. We are now 3 locations strong in Hollywood, Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale, FL. We were excited to announce that we will also be opening 2 new locations before year end in Pembroke Pines and Miami, FL.
WHY DO WE DO IT?
According to the organization, FeedingAmerica.org, 70% of low-income families without a washing machine regularly skip doing laundry in order to save money for food and shelter.
Laundry Love South Florida is open and welcoming to all who are in need. It is a human care initiative that helps to wash the clothing and bedding of the individual or family in need, regardless of their background.
We bring dignity to those we serve. Many times our guests come to us feeling different, sometimes unloved and unappreciated. Our guests, however, leave us feeling loved and appreciated, they repeatedly thank us and tell us how much they appreciate what we do for them.
The gift of Laundry Love is mutual because while we go into laundromats to make a difference, we have found that those who we serve make us different.
HOW DO WE DO IT?
Since our inception, we have received over 1,000 donations from our partner churches, organizations and everyday people who help to make this ministry thrive. Since we began, our over 300 volunteers have helped serve over 2,000 guests in need. In that time, we have cleaned over 10,000 washloads, which equals over 200,000 pounds or 100 tons of clean clothing! Laundry Love works because of each of you who support us!
