Lay Worship Leader

A Worship Leader may publicly and regularly lead the Daily Offices of Morning Prayer, Order of Service for Noonday, Evening Prayer, and Compline. Leading worship is an important ministry in the Church, and there are skills and resources that are necessary for all those who lead worship.

The Bishop is conducting a practical course for all active deacons as well as those who have been identified by their clergy or Vestries as potential lay worship leaders. No lay person can conduct public worship without a license from the Bishop, and those who hope to be licensed as lay worship leaders must take this course.  There is no charge for this course.

There are three Zoom sessions on

  • Sunday 8 September at 5 pm
  • Sunday 15 September at 5 pm
  • Sunday 29 September at 5 pm

There are two Practicum sessions

  • Sunday 6 October from 2pm to 5 pm (for those in the southern Deaneries)
  • Sunday 20 October from 2 pm to 5 pm (for those in the northern Deaneries)

If you are interested in becoming a Lay Worship Leader, please see Father Lee or Mother Diana.
