Palm Sunday marks the first day of Holy Week, the last week of the season of Lent preceding Eastertide. The feat commemorates Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, which is mentioned in all four canonical Gospels. The name comes from the palm branches that people waved to greet and honor Jesus.

Thursday, March 28th, Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday) followed by One Hour Watch in the Garden

Maundy Thursday is the day during Holy Week that commemorates the washing of the feet and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles. Maundy comes from the latin word mandatum or commandment reflecting Jesus’ words “I give you a new commandment.”

Friday, March 29th, Good Friday

Noon, A Good Friday Mediation

7:00pm, Good Friday Service

Good Friday is the day that the church commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus and his death. It is observed as part of the Paschal Triduum, which begins on Maundy Thursday and reaches its high point in the Easter Vigil. The name Good Friday comes from the sense “holy” of the word good.

Saturday, March 30th, The Great Vigil of Easter

The Great Vigil of Easter is the pinnacle of the Paschal Triduum and is the first official celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus. Historically, it is during the Vigil that people are baptized and received into the Body of Christ. It is held in the evening, usually in the hours of darkness. It is considered the most important liturgy and Mass of the church year. The liturgy is filled with symbolism.

Sunday,  March 31st, Easter Sunday followed by Easter Egg Hung
