My name is Lucia Mejia. I give a warm greeting to each of you. The purpose of this letter is to request your support for the Mission that, as many of you know, I have been doing in Colombia for many years, consisting of sending clothes, shoes, school supplies, and backpacks for the children.
I travel every year with my own resources, covering the cost of the ticket and the activities that I do for each group of children and those accompanying them. On two occasions, I was blessed with the financial support of the Church where I attend and several companions, including the priest, traveled with me and enjoyed this ministry where they were able to offer love, time, and money. During the years 2020 and 2021, I did the mission in different ways because the children studied virtually but needed food, clothes, and an internet connection.
This year I want to assist 100 children, I intend to travel at the end of February and I come to you requesting financial support for the purchase of backpacks and to send some boxes with clothes; without your collaboration, it would not be possible.
The cost of each backpack, buying them in Colombia and thus avoiding the shipping cost, is approximately $5.00 - $7.00. Donations should be made before Feb. 20th by check, cash, or Zelle. Please be sure to note that the funds are to be directed toward the Colombian Mission.
