Lenten Prayers: Wednesday in the Third Week of Lent
Lenten Prayer
HEAVENLY FATHER, WE COME BEFORE YOU IN THOUGHTS, WORDS, AND DEEDS. WE THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR US AND CONTINUE TO DO FOR US AND FOR OTHERS. WE ARE FOREVER GRATEFUL TO YOU DEAR LORD, THOUGH WE SELFISHLY FALL SHORT BY FLIPPING FROM SIDE TO SIDE. DEAR LORD, FORGIVE US. JESUS IN HUMAN FORM YOU WERE LED TO THE WILDERNESS TO BE TEMPTED BY THE DEVIL. FOR 40 DAYS YOU STOOD UP AGAINST THE DEVIL’S TEMPTATION AND DID NOT SUCCUMB TO HIS OFFERINGS. LORD, THIS OUTCOME FOR YOUR JOURNEY IN THE WILDERNESS HAS TAUGHT US NOT TO YIELD TO TEMPTATION. FOR THERE’S NOTHING THAT WE SHOULD ALLOW TO DISTRACT US FROM BEING FAITHFUL AND TO ACKNOWLEDGE YOU. AND SO DEAR JESUS, MAY WE BE REMINDED WITHIN THE PRAYER YOU TAUGHT US. “…FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US. LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION, BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL…” O JESUS, AN ASTOUNDING PREPARATION OF WHAT MAY COME IN OUR DAILY LIVES. FATHER GOD, AS WE OBSERVE THE JOURNEY OF THESE 40 DAYS OF THE LENTEN SEASON MAY OUR SPIRITS BE LIFTED TO GLORIFY YOUR NAME AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. HOLY SPIRIT, REST IN US. BLESS GOD – FATHER, SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. Submitted by Dahlia Cunningham |
