WE'VE COME THIS FAR BY FAITH

...for we walk by faith, not by sight…
2 Corinthians 5:7

Through this scripture, St. Paul was helping believers in the Christian faith to understand the nature of the New Covenant. One cannot earn salvation through the works of the Law, or through physical deeds, no matter how well-intended. We are saved by our faith, and therefore must learn to walk in faith and not by sight.

For many, these words also are part of a much-beloved hymn, “We’ve Come This Far by Faith.” The hymn was written by Albert Goodson, a gifted African American pianist. You can read more about that here.

Learning to trust and live by faith is a common theme throughout the Bible. And without a doubt, we have all been called to live by faith as we continue to move through the uncharted waters of a global pandemic. You will hear more about the theme of our stewardship campaign in the coming weeks.
