Five Facts
  1. Mary Magdalene never abandoned Jesus, unlike most of Jesus' disciples.
  2. As recorded in the Gospel of John, the Risen Christ appears to Mary Magdalene first.
  3. She is often known as the "Apostle to the Apostles".
  4. She was NOT a prostitute.
  5. In the time between the Risen Christ appearing to her and proclaiming the Resurrection to the other disciples, Mary Magdalene was quite literally the church on earth. This is because, at this time, the full Paschal Mystery had only been revealed to her, a marginalized woman. How we accept and treat those society marginalizes should reflect this event.
